1. What askadent is

askadent lets you submit photos and intake answers about a dental concern and receive a preliminary triage assessment from an AHPRA-registered Australian dentist (a "Reviewing Dentist"). The assessment is a structured observation of what the dentist saw, an urgency rating (Routine / Soon / Within a week / Urgent), and a plain-English summary.

It is not a diagnosis, not a substitute for an in-person dental visit, and not for emergencies. If you have a dental emergency, call your dentist or 000.

The Reviewing Dentist provides the clinical content; we operate the platform. We are not a healthcare provider.

askadent is intended for users in Australia. The Reviewing Dentist is registered to practise in Australia, and we cannot reliably assess dental issues for users located elsewhere.

2. Acceptance

By submitting a case you accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy. The version of each document current at the moment you submit is recorded against your case, so we can always reproduce the exact text you agreed to.

You confirm that:

  • you are at least 18 (or that an adult is submitting on your behalf);
  • the answers you give are honest and complete to the best of your knowledge;
  • the photos depict you (or someone you are submitting on behalf of, with their consent);
  • you understand the assessment is preliminary triage and not a diagnosis;
  • you will not use askadent in an emergency; and
  • you consent to our handling of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.

3. Fees

The fee for an assessment is AUD $10, processed via Stripe and payable in advance. Payments are not currently enabled — submission is free during the launch period. The version of these Terms current at the moment you submit applies to your case, so anyone who submitted before payments are enabled is contractually free.

4. How it works

We aim to deliver your assessment within 24 hours. This is a target, not a guarantee — we may pause the service for maintenance or in response to incidents. The assessment arrives by email as a unique link to your case page — keep it private. You may ask one follow-up question within 48 hours of receiving the assessment.

If the Reviewing Dentist cannot give you a meaningful assessment from your photos, we will refund the AUD $10 fee and recommend an in-person visit.

5. Acceptable use

You will use askadent honestly and only for your own case (or someone you are assisting with their consent or, for a minor, your authority as their parent or guardian). You will not abuse the service, attempt to access information that isn't yours, submit anyone else's photos without their consent (or, for a minor, your authority as their parent or guardian), re-publish the assessment as a clinical recommendation to a third party, or use askadent for an emergency.

You will not scrape the service, use automated tools to interact with it, reverse-engineer it, or attempt to circumvent rate limits, security controls, or access restrictions.

We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these rules or where required by law.

6. Photos

You keep ownership of your photos. You grant askadent a non-exclusive, royalty-free, time-limited licence to store, process (resize, compress, remove embedded camera metadata), display to the Reviewing Dentist, and retain your photos for the period in the Privacy Policy. The licence ends when the retention period expires or you ask us to delete the case.

We will not train any model on your photos, sell them, share them with insurers / advertisers / data brokers, publish them, or use them for any purpose other than producing your assessment and operating the service.

7. Complaints

Use the form on your result page or email support@askadent.com. We acknowledge within 2 business days and respond substantively within 30 days.

8. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

To the maximum extent permitted by law and subject to that, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) AUD $100. At our option we may discharge our liability by re-supplying the service or refunding the applicable amount. We are not liable for clinical decisions you make in reliance on a preliminary triage assessment, including a decision not to seek in-person care; for loss caused by inaccurate or incomplete information you submitted; or for the consequences of using askadent in an emergency where you should have called 000.

Clinical responsibility for the assessment sits with the Reviewing Dentist, who holds their own professional indemnity insurance.

9. Termination

You may delete your case at any time using the form on your result page. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if we discontinue the service (in which case we give 30 days' notice and offer a data export).

10. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes are versioned; the version current at submission applies to your case.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia. Each party submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.

12. General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. We may transfer these Terms to a successor entity (for example on acquisition or restructure); you may not transfer your rights without our consent. Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right.
